The frame will crack on this handgun. I bought one in December '08 but did not do enough research before I bought it. After researching I learned about the potential for the frame cracking so I called Beretta and spoke to a tech about it and he assured me there was not a problem. After less than 200 rounds the frame cracked. I only shot ammo recommended by Beretta for this handgun. I sent it in to Beretta and after about 8 weeks I received a brand new 3032 Tomcat Inox (the stainless version) for a replacement. Beretta will not admit that there is a problem with this pistol but they will replace it WHEN, not if, the frame cracks, at least if it is still under warranty. Google "Beretta Tomcat cracked frame" and see how many forums talk about this issue. There are several. If you really want this pistol, go for the Inox version. It has a much heavier slide which reduces or eliminates the frame cracking problem. Also, don't let them fool you about the "smooth" DA/SA trigger action. The trigger is horrible. It has a lot of travel and is very rough and not crisp at all. After all of the bad things I said about this pistol, I do like my new Inox because it is very small and easy to conceal. It is also far more accurate than the black model I had. I read several threads from years ago that talked about this issue and some said that Beretta had fixed this problem. This is not true. This is the same pistol (the black version) that has been problematic for years but Beretta will not recall the gun...
