I am very pleased with the Escalade knives from Browning. I have both versions, and they are both attractive, the brown knife is very light in color. These knives have EXCELLENT edge holding. I have put mine through some very hard use and they stayed sharp brilliantly. The fit and finish is superior. I am very impressed with the overall quality of these knives, Browning builds excellent products in most cases in my experience, and these knives certainly are. Bringing back the edge was easier than I thought, I used a simple 'crock stick' style ceramic rod sharpener, and they were back shaving sharp quickly. The sheaths are very durable and simple leather--very nice. I found the size and shape perfect for deer size game, a little larger blade would be in order, for skinning at least, on larger game, say an elk, but these would still work for sure. The handle, although very smooth in finish, has a shape which makes for a good grip during skinning if the handle gets wet with whatever....I like these knives very much. The folding versions are a little thicker through the body of the blade, but otherwise very similar, I actually slightly prefer the straight knives in these blades. Very attractive knives, and great steel--a really good value without question... |
