BROWNING BAR Safari Rifles Browning 300 Win Semi-Automatic Bar Safari w/Boss/Blue Barrel/Walnut Stock As the first autoloader to offer magnum cartridge capability, the Browning Bar Safari continues to offer a wide range of long and short action calibers. Brownings Safari rifle is available with a blued one piece steel receiver with scroll engraving along with a select walnut stock and forearm. The reliable gas operated action reduces recoil and quickly cycles every round. All models feature a detachable box magazine and factory installed sling swivel studs. Exceptional hunting rifle. I originally purchased it for a Canadian Bison hunt, and have harvested two of them since then. But the rifle is so comfortable to shoot that I have used it for elk, where the .338 Win Mag cartridge can reach out and anchor an elk at long ranges. I have harvested an elk with the rifle. I have also used it for predator control (with a guide in Canada), where it will devastate wolves and coyotes at long ranges. Follow-up shots are quick and easy to make, should they be necessary. I would say that this rifle has become my favorite hunting rifle, except that the weight makes it a bit much to carry for days when hiking the mountains. Although mine, with laser scope, weighs just over 10.5 lbs fully loaded, I have an old Winchester Model 100 that, with scope and loaded magazine, weighs 8.5 lbs. Love the BAR II, but wish it weighed less. If it did, I would be a one rifle hunter, using the BAR II for my only rifle... |
