The Chipmunk bolt action pistol is one fantastically accurate small game hunting tool. I bought the .22 rifle first and liked it so well that I had to have the pistol, choosing the laminated stock in .22 caliber. Everyone who has interest in the shooting sports should own either the pistol and/or the rifle, for the pleasure of seeing bullets shoot into the same bullet hole, this is truly a fine gun. The trigger from the factory is good, perhaps not quite as smooth and light as an Anschultz, but that\'s ok, it can be worked on by a competent gunsmith easy enough but from a good rest and taking my time, tight 1/2\" groups are easy, to take it a bit slower and squeeze it off carefully, I got what is called \"one ragged hole\" from my 5 shot group. Ditto with the little rifle. We used Paco Kelly\'s accurizer to bring out the best with subsonic hollowpoint ammo, taking farm country barn pigeons offhand out to 80 yards with ease.
What amazed us is the supreme accuracy from these guns using the 2x and 4x scopes that came with the guns, for such a low price tag, yield our 1-hole ragged groups just like a much more expensive Anschutz and Leaupold scope would allow. Much depends on the shooter of course. We rounded off the factory trigger\'s right angles to rounded edges, to make for a more comfortable contact with the trigger finger and pull. We plan to have our gunsmith lighten the pistol trigger slightly, but the rifle is perfect for the younger shooter. The safety of these firearms, to require a manual cocking of the gun after working the bolt, this is great for not only children but adults as well. To shoot a single shot as fine as these firearms is to savor the experience, much more enjoyable than shooting bullets fast rapid fire. All-in-all, in a day where we all need to think more about survival issues and be prepared, the Chipmunk pistol and the rifle are very fine choices. Our next to get is the little rifle in .22 magnum. Contrary to what you might think, just because the stock is small has no effect on hitting what you aim at. It\'s nice to carry smaller and lighter, rather than bigger and heavier in the woods... |
