Lightfield Slugs specializes in manufacturing the hardest hitting, most accurate saboted slugs available to today's hunters for use in their rifled shotgun barrels. The various slugs that make up the product line of Lightfield slugs utilize two distinctly innovative designs, each design functioning similarly to the other to produce superior accuracy even at extended ranges. During that all-important split second immediately after a slug is fired and prior to its exiting the barrel, each design ensures that maximum spin is imparted to the locked sabot/slug assembly. Once free of the gun barrel the designs produce incredible projectile stability through both the supersonic and especially the subsonic phases of the slug's flight. Lightfield slugs will provde maximized projectile spin rate and flight stability.

The Lightfield Hybred EXP Design

The Lightfield Hybred EXP (Maximum Expansion) cartridge has a two-sided sabot that keys to four tabs on the slug itself [1][2].

Just like a badminton birdie the lighter wad or 'shuttlecock' stays attached to the slug while in flight, giving the projectile stability while supersonic and prevents shockwave deflection when the projectile becomes subsonic [4].

When the shell is fired the pressure pushes the wad forward, locking the slug and sabot together, and forces the locked sabot/slug assembly to expand to the full barrel diameter and spin together as one unit [3]. Upon impact the maximum expansion of the soft lead slug (essentially a .62 caliber bullet) produces devastatingly lethal results. The Lightfield Hybred EXP is "The Standard by Which Other Slugs are Judged.".

The Lightfield Commander IDS Design

The Lightfield Commander IDS (Impact Discarding Sabot) cartridge has a sabot with four grooves on the inside [1]. The Lightfield IDS stays together as one projectile while in flight and, just like a badminton birdie, the lighter sabot gives the projectile stability while supersonic and prevents shockwave deflection when the projectile becomes subsonic [3].

When the shell is fired the pressure causes lead from the slug to expand into these grooves, effectively locking the slug and sabot together, and forces the locked sabot/slug assembly to expand to the full barrel diameter and spin together as one unit [2]. Upon impact, the soft lead actually mushrooms out of the top of the slug, producing controlled expansion. When you hit a big game animal with what is essentially a .73 caliber bullet, the results are devastatingly lethal [4].

Testimonials from our Customers
I have hunted with lightfield slugs for about 7 years now. I have used other slug but they dont even match up to a lightfeild. I decided to make my Benelli Super Black Eagle a D.S.G. last year and put a nikon BDC scope on it. It has never let me down using the lightfeild 12ga. 2 3/4\" EXP. This is a deadly combo for me and my son. We have killed deer from 50 yards to right at 200 yards. The lightfeild slug does massive damage to the deers organs. If they don\'t drop in their tracks, they don\'t go more than 50 yards. Nock on wood I have never lost a deer using the lighfeild slugs. But we have when using other slugs.
F. C. - Lightfield Hybred Expansion LF12, 12 Gauge, 2-3/4", 1-1/4 oz, 1450 fps, Slug, 5 Rd/bx
I have used these slugs for years with great success. I shoot a Rem. 1100 with a pro point dot and have dropped deer well over 100 yards. My longest shot was in an open corn field and my range finder said 189 yards. I sight my gun in to shoot 2\" high at 50 yards. Anything over 150 yards just hold at the top of the shoulder and squeeze. Awsome slug I would recommend them to anyone.
S. K. - Lightfield Hybred Expansion LF12, 12 Gauge, 2-3/4", 1-1/4 oz, 1450 fps, Slug, 5 Rd/bx
I have been using these slugs for 3 seasons now because Indiana has a shotgun only law and I wanted to get better distance out of my gun. I haven\'t had any shots closer than 150yrds to 200yrds and I drop them everytime now, and they don\'t get back up. They are matched up perfectly with my Mossburg. All in all, they are the best shell I have ever used.
R. N. - Lightfield Hybred Expansion LF12, 12 Gauge, 2-3/4", 1-1/4 oz, 1450 fps, Slug, 5 Rd/bx
AWESOME FIREPOWER! This has got to be the most powerful 12 gauge cartridge in all of the world. The sound of thunder throughout the land is worth every bit of the recoil. It's a good fit in my Remington 1187 super magnum.
J. S. - Lightfield Commander LF12312, 12 Gauge, 3-1/2", 1-1/16 oz, 1800 fps, Slug, 5 Rd/bx
In my view, this is one of the better slugs out there. At .54 caliber and 7/8 of an ounce, this slug is bigger than most, and in my Rem. 1100 with a Hastings barrel it is quite accurate. I shot seven deer with it in Maryland this past deer season. All hits were pass-throughs, so I never was able to recover a slug and evaluate it. Any deer hit in the right place died within seconds, usually running no more than 20-30 yards.
