Picked up a couple of boxes of Federal American Eagle .338 Federal ammo to try in my son's new Ruger Hawkeye all weather. Didn't have the tripod for the chronograph, but the recoil told us that the 2750 fps velocity is probably pretty close. It didn't shoot quite as well as the Federal Fusion 200 gr loads, but it was decently accurate with 3 shot groups at 100 yards measuring around an inch and a quarter from the bench. Good quality affordable ammo. We will probably stick with the Fusions for hunting, although I am quite confident these 185 gr American Eagle soft points would also get the job done...
