The Federal 000 and #4 buckshot is by far my ammo of choice for the Judge.
I can see no need for the 45 lc if the the judge is used for a PDW..

These shoot absolutely amazing through my Taurus Judge Public Defender, with a 6-8" spread at 21ft (7yds). Perfect for the average home defense situation. I carry this load with me at home and in the truck. I also carry some Hornady LeverRevolution 225gr colts, if the situation calls for (extreme) accuracy with this gun...

This is my choice for the Taurus judge over the Winchester PDX. I fired this round at 10, 20, 30, and 40 feet at fullsize silhouette targets. Point of impact was consistant with the sight picture, and even at 40 feet all 4 pellets hit the target with 2 in the vitals. This has much more range than the PDX...

I was very disappointed with this ammunition, at average self defense distances to 15 - 25 ft I was consistantly drilling 1" holes with all 4 pellets touching each other. The Winchester ammo with 3, 00 pellets spread approx 3-5" diameter patterns. For close range combat/self defense shooting I want the spread..

I did not shoot at the distances of the previous poster; but, I do have to say that I am VERY pleased with the performance of the 000 Buck 4 pellet shot that Federal has come out with for the Judge. I shot 5 shots of this at a variable distance of approximately 2, 3, 5 and 8 yards away. At the furthest distance I still managed to have a max of 3 inch spread. With all 5 rounds down range, I managed to blow a pretty good hole through the plywood target. All and all, I really enjoyed the new Federal 000 Buck. The 4 almost 9mm pellets kept good grouping and fired with stunning accuracy as compared to the 45 Long Colt or a 410 slug. If you are wanting a door gun for point blank applications, the Judge is the gun you need. Especially with Federal\'s #4 shot. If you want a door gun that can hit a target accurately at 25 feet even, the the Judge loaded with Federal\'s 000 Buck, 4 pellet is definitely what you will want. The Judge was designed for shot, and the new Federal ammunition provides an accurate alternative to .45 or Slug shots. Plus I love the fact that I am shooting basically a 9mm 4 round burst every time I pull the trigger...
