This thing rocks! I use it for clearing shooting lanes, around my garden, and just about everywhere in the great outdoors. It chops through finger size branches with no problem. The hook is great for tight spots and it keeps you from slamming the cutting edge into the ground when using it low. It really doesn't weigh much so it's no problem carrying it around all day. My only complaint is with the sheath. It has a plastic liner inside that lasted days and the tip of the hook pushed through the side. A sew job and some duct tape fixed that. I have the one with the older handle. I've heard the new ones break easier but mine has stood up to all kinds of abuse. My USMC issue machete is a piece of junk compared to this thing. They should have issued these instead...
