Dynamite, dramatic performance on Whitetails. Took large doe through brisket, bullet destroyed top of heart, and exited in front of rear left (offside) leg. The shot was in extremely thick cover and at a steep angle so actually believed I had missed her as didn't see her down right away. The bullet hit with enough force at probably 75 yards, that it had picked her up and rolled her over backwards into a brushy depression. It was a quick, clean kill and no meat was damaged. I would recommend the combination of this bullet and the Marlin MXLR to anyone -- the effect of added frontal area, weight and velocity of a .338 has to be seen and in a lightweight, easy carrying and amazingly accurate "woods friendly" package -- great for western PA, and, well, anywhere. Like to try it on Elk, Moose and Bear...

I zero'd in the 338 on my marlin leveraction at 3" high at 100 yds. I shot an elk at 180 yards and it dropped after stumbling about 10 yards. Dbl lung and major vessels. Entry right where I aimed and exited clean after taking out a couple of ribs. Powerful round as advertised!..

Other than it is not widely available yet, I really like the gun. I have used it coyote hunting and was very satisfied with the results. I hope to use it elk hunting this year, if they make more ammo for it...
