I am a fan of this bullet combo, I shoot a 45-70 Marlin with a 18.5 in barrel. This stuff shoots sub 1 1/2" groups with open sights and can get it to group 1" 3 shot, shot groups with a low power scope.
I have taken Elk at over 200 yards and deer at near 300 yards with this round. Both one shot quick drop shots. My hats off to the folks at Hornady for doing what should have been done a long time ago. Long live the 45/70...

Have used this ammo in two 45/70 rifles, a 1886 with open sights and a Marlin 1895 Guide Gun with a vintage 3x Weaver scope on it. This is the best shooting ammo from both rifles, and even my handloads for accuracy. I was leary of the Leverlution on game bigger then deer, but because of the excellent accuracy I decided to go with it. I took the Marlin to Colorado last October and shot an elk with it. A 70 yd. broadside shot which penetrated entirely leaving a 1/2" exit hole through the ribs. No gapping hole like the magnums leave, but the devastation inside was impressive. Ran about 30 yds and dropped dead. Best part there was a lot less bloodshot meat around the entrance and exit wounds. Although 1 kill is a very small sample, I will put the magnums away and continue to use the 45/70 for a while. I was very satified wthe 45/70 and the Hornady Leverlution's performance...

Shot this in my new Marlin Cowboy, 45-70. Drop 2 deer right in their tracks. This is the gun most people carry in Alaska for big bears. MOA -1/2 at 100 yds. What a gun and what a round!!!..

I shoot a Marlin 1895CB and have taken several deer with this ammo. It has performed great each and every time, puts it down and it stays down. Also puts a great group on paper...

I shoot a Shiloh Sharps model 1874 with a 30" barrel topped with a 6x Hi-lux scope. Using the Hornady Lever Evolution ammo, bench rest at 300 yards, this ammo produced a 3.57" group. At 400 yds, bench rest, the group was an astounding 4.6". Balistics was supurb, having to spin only a few clicks of elevation into the optics. Unfortunatly I have yet to take any game with this cartridge but that will change soon. This is the best price I have seen for this ammo by far. I give it an overall good rating...
