Have used this ammo in two 45/70 rifles, a 1886 with open sights and a Marlin 1895 Guide Gun with a vintage 3x Weaver scope on it. This is the best shooting ammo from both rifles, and even my handloads for accuracy. I was leary of the Leverlution on game bigger then deer, but because of the excellent accuracy I decided to go with it. I took the Marlin to Colorado last October and shot an elk with it. A 70 yd. broadside shot which penetrated entirely leaving a 1/2" exit hole through the ribs. No gapping hole like the magnums leave, but the devastation inside was impressive. Ran about 30 yds and dropped dead. Best part there was a lot less bloodshot meat around the entrance and exit wounds. Although 1 kill is a very small sample, I will put the magnums away and continue to use the 45/70 for a while. I was very satified wthe 45/70 and the Hornady Leverlution's performance.
