I own this handgun and I admire the workmanship and the quality. I have used it a lot in the last 6 months. It has been extremely accurate and reliable. I have run MANY different loads with few fail to feeds. The failures were some a-typical rounds, nothing to worry about. I find it comfortable to shoot.
I have concerns about some shooters using +P and ++P 45 ACP and then complaining about damage with their compact aluminum frame pistol. Compact 45 autos are not Super Redhawks and, in my opinion, responsible owners need to pick ammo that is appropriate with the gun. If you want more power, get a full size steel frame to shoot your ++P ammo. Or, better yet, get a different gun: a 10mm for example.
Additionally, Kimber has been great to work with, according to most owners. Indeed, Kimber seems to work hard to accomodate owners beyond the call of duty.
My only criticism of my ProCarry II is the mickey mouse tool needed to field strip the gun. However, this is not abnormal for the compact 1911s of modern vintage. Things have drifted a bit from the old GI model that had all it own tools engineered into the parts of the pistol...
But...I like it... |

I have this gun in stainless with night sights. It's a beautiful gun and it shot great for a while with the occasional ftl. Kimber says that you need to break this gun in with at least 500-800 rounds before the ftl will go away. I was fine with that until this weekend when the slide started to lock back on me in the begining,middle, and near the end of the mag. I tried a stock 7rd Kimber mag, a Wilson Combat 8rd mag, and a Kimpro 8rd mag and it did it with all of them. After reading the review above mine I am now realizing this may be a common problem with this gun. I do not have another gun for backup and do not feel safe using this as my carry or home protection gun at this time. I'm calling Kimber today to see what they are going to do about this. One last thing, my father-in-law got the same gun a week after me and has had no problems with the slide locking back but he has had plenty ftl's... |

Perfection in my hands. I waited nearly 8 weeks for my gun to arrive. Totally worth the wait and I'd do it all over again. The quality is outstanding and the craftsmanship is flawless. The night sights are brilliant. Trigger pull is smooth and grips are excellent... |
