4 of 5 Stars!
This pad will do the job on a Mossberg 835 with a 3 1/2 shells. The installation instructions were really messed up. I speak with a Servox so my wife called Limbsaver for me before I recieved it and I planned to drill a new bottom hole. I sent Limbsaver Co. the following message which explains what I had to do to install this on my new Mossberg 835. I do like the result but at 66 years old it made me think to install it. Hopes this helps someone. Would I buy it again? Yes since it really is pretty much pre fit if you know what to do. I am sharing this information simply because I do like Limbsaver products. I purchased a Limbsaver pre fit # 10201 pad for a new Mossberg 835. (My wife actually called your company to make sure it would fit and was told I would have to drill a new bottom hole in the pad. This was before I received it.) The instructions that came with the pad actually show and names the wooden stock instructions as for a synthetic stock and the synthetic stock instructions as for a wooden stock. The picture color is brown for synthetic and black for wood. Now that wouldn\'t be too bad if you didn\'t have to use the adapter pad with the 835 synthetic stock, but you do, which helps reinforce the stock. Also not included in any instructions is the fact you must mount the adapter plate first with it\'s bottom screw hole (original stock screw or one provided) in the stock, then the recoil pad to it with the bottom pre drilled screw hole (screw provided by Limbsaver) then the top screw hole can also be used normally in the stock with the original screw. If you don\'t do that you will have to drill a new hole in the pad for the bottom screw. You won\'t have to if you follow the procedure I just out lined. However my new 835 came with a plastic insert that is designed to hold two 4 inch recoil tubes if the owner wants to purchase those, plus it provides reinforcement for the stock just as the adapter plate does. When you use the bottom pre drilled hole in the pad it goes through the adapter plate and makes contact with the plastic insert, this causes the pad to bow up and not fit flush. You must drill a small hole in the plastic insert so the screw can go in and not push the pad up and back. If you think most customers can put that together, I\'ll share that I have seen several customers comment they returned this pad since it was not made for the Mossberg 835, which it of course was. Thought I would share this information since the company might want to address better instructions. If not you will lose sales since the Mossberg 835 does use 3 1/2 inch shells, is a bit light and needs to have something to soften the recoil...
