I`m glad I bought mine when I did (in Oct. of 2007) because I don`t think Marlin is offering the S/S model anymore. Although, they finely started to offer this Model in the 357 S/S version . When I finely found mine brand new at a gun show in Tx. , it cost me $538.00 and I was certainly glad to get it, because they are very hard to find any where . This rifle shoot\'s very fine FLAT groups at 200 yds. using the new Hornaday Flex Tip Bullets and a 2x7x28 Weaver scope and an XS low mount scope base . It`s an excellant, very strong clear compact scope set up for the little rifle .... Shoot`s under 3 inch`s ....10 Shot Groups at 200 yds. , out of my gun . This little gun is very precision built by Marlin, with the fit and finish 2nd. to NONE ! I`ve also seen this gun in the 357 S/S Model version at a gun show , and it was the same way...... Fit and finish is as good as my S/S 44 Model is ..... Don`t know how the 357 shoot`s , but I supect as good as, or better , than the 44 chambered rifle does , using the same FLX tipped type bullet`s . Hope this review helps someone looking for one of these little 44 rifles ..... There not too cheap, and hard to find , but they are a FINE solid made rifle , and no doubt , will last two life time\'s. It\'s an excellant light weight deer and hog rifle. I think ..... 2 of each and counting :_)..
