I walked into a gun shop the other day, just to browse. I spotted a Marlin XL7 in .270 Win. on the rack. After giving it a close examination I knew this was the rifle I had to have. I ended up buying two of them. Unfortunatly I wish I had come here first as theirs are much cheaper. The quality of these rifles are first rate. Deep crowned muzzle, excellent craftmanship and one of the best triggers I have seen in years. (The triggers are fully adjustable but niether of mine needed it..) I put inexpensive slings on them and mounted Sightron S1 3x9 scopes on both rifles. I spent less for two quality rifles than what I would have spent on a high priced fancy rifle that won't shoot any better than mine. Folks, Marlin got it right with this rifle. I have owned many rifles and many calibers over the years and I believe the .270 Win. is probably the best all around deer class cartridge for the average hunter. It shoots very flat to 300 yards which is about the maximum for most average hunters. Buy one of these rifles and you will have a gun that will provide years of service. I cannot say enough about these beautiful guns. The stocks are composite and when lifted to the shoulder they just "feel" right. Wonderful........

I have expected Marlin lever actions to be accurate for their purpose. This bolt action at this price should not shoot in the same hole at 100 yards, but mine does, even in 270 Win...
