Personally, i believe that this ia an excellent firearm for the money i use mine for home protection and it shoots excellent (not that I've had to use it in that sense) but from shooting around its as Mossberg so perfectly worded it a 'Workhorse'. It slso breaks down excellently on the inside...

I bought the model 88, 12 gauge pump shotgun a few years back for $200.00 brand new. At that time, they included both the 18 1/2" and 21" barrels. It also came with standard as well as riot (Pistol type) Stocks. I initially used it with 21" barrel and standard stock, and it was a great shooter, accurate to 100 yds. with standard Buckshot, and more precise with steel bird shot, but I needed a home defense weapon that had a bit more kick than my S&W 38 special. I installed the 18 1/2" barrel and the small pistol grip riot style stock. I keep it hidden but in easy reach if needed for home defense. It's loaded with Brenneke Tactical Home Defense Shotgun slugs. They reach close to 1300 fps. at 25 Yds. and an incredible 1200 Ft./Lbs. of Energy at the same distance. ...
