This is one of the coolest and most reliable pump action tactical/home-D shotguns currently on the market. Durable Mossberg made-in-USA construction and design. Great swing balance and you can't beat the dual extractors for reliability, a 9-shot capacity to take care of business and that durable marinecote finish to keep this weapon looking and working good for a long time. The 10-year warranty is another plus that shows how Mossberg really stands behind their products. This shotgun is worth every penny... |

Mossberg 590 Special Purpose Mariner 9-shot (model 50299)
Reasons why this is my favorite tactical shotgun:
- dual extractors
- reliable action
- 9-shot capacity
- balanced swing weight
- durable marinecote finish (I'm a charter capt and take it out on my boat)
- damn fun to shoot
- takes 2 3/4" and 3" shells, even in combo mix
- 10-year factory warranty
I upgraded mine with a superb Choate fixed (at 12.5" LOP) synthetic P/G stock with thick (and forgiving) rubber buttpad and a Mossy factory marinecote picatinny rail to mount stuff on top like lights, lasers, red dots, irons, etc. Also took off the factory brass front bead and put on a Hi-Viz red glow fiber optic ($10 from Brownell's) for a higher and more visible front sight that I can center with the u-notch in the rear Picatinny rail for crude but effective shooting with slugs. Also installed an MI one-point sling, which makes it very easy to carry, run and gun and not drop on the ground or have someone be able to take it away from you. The price isn't bad either... |
