Finally got one last weekend. I like .380 for home defense and "campng carry", it runs in the family, my Dad and Granddad both had .380s. I was looking for something to replace my 1990s Colt .380, which has poor sights (before the goverment eliminates gun ourchases). Went to the range and shot every .380 they had, and found the Sig 232 worked the best - I didn't know I could shoot a little gun that well! It is made like a fine watch. It is beautiful, looks like a Walther PPK, which makes me look kind of like James Bond(?). Took it to the range and ran a couple of boxes of shells thru it without incident. Very easy to take apart and clean The night sights work great, and make it easy to find at night. The grips fill out my hand nicely, and still fit my wife's hands too. She can also work the slide easily, which is an issue on larger caliber weapons. There is no slide lever - the slide stays open after the last shot. To close the slide, you remove the magazine and pull the slide back and then it will slide forward. The decocking lever works well, I like the SLOW hammer drop, a lot of other guns are scarey. After decocking, the first shot is double action, then the rest are single action.
It is a little bigger for concealed carry compared to the Ruger LCP and KelTek, but I can't hit a durn thing with those.
The only thing I don't like is it does not have a safety, but neither does my Beretta PX-4, or any of my revolvers. Must be the wave of the future... |
