I recently purchased this gun from a local dealer. I own a Glock 19 and a Beretta 96 , but wanted a smaller concealable gun. The choices came down to this gun or the .380 Beretta Cheetah. I liked this gun with the laser and extended 8 shot grip, so I bought it.
I made a major mistake not dismantling the gun in the store in order to see what quirks were involved in taking it down before I brought it home.
Today after two hours on my own, and half an hour with the service rep at Sig, I just gave up dismantling it and reboxed it to take back to the local dealer I bought it from.
The issue I have is that on the reverse side of the gun from the photo, there is a small button that sticks out about 1/16 that must be pushed in when the slide stop and the hole in the slide are aligned. This, like all my autos, means you have to hold pressure on the slide spings, in order to get the pin out on the Beretta or the slide to free up on the Glock.
No matter how I tried, fingers in the trigger guard, using my thigh, trying to find a place on my workbench, and finally following instructions from the factory rep, I was unable to find enough hands to get the slide stop out. The pin goes in the miniscule amount, your finger hits the frame and the slide wont shake out, fall out when held upside down or even be out far enough to use your teeth to get a grip on the lever.
I refuse to have my wife come out and push it out with a pencil while I hold it..especially in a carry gun.
I asked the factory rep if this is the standard set up on all Sigarms to dismantle the gun and he told me this one was unique.
I will take this gun back to the dealer and if they cannot show me a way to take this gun apart easily, it goes back to them and I will stick with the tried and true Beretta design.
I wish I could add information on how this gun shot, but until I can figure out how to clean it, no shells will go through this pistol.
My message...........if you intend to buy this gun, try to dismantle it in a store first to see if you can do it on your own.
I am 70, 168 pounds and have reasonable hand strength..at least enough to take a Glock and Beretta down, but this gun has me beat!.. |
