TRADITIONS INC 1851 Colt Black Powder Revolver Traditions 44 Cal Steel Frame/5" Old Silver Octagon Barrel & Walnut Grips Union Army soldiers relied on many different types of sidearms for short range and close quarters combat. The revolver was unique in that it had the ability to fire several rounds per minute before having to reload. Revolvers were typically issued to officers and mounted soldiers, however some were purchased privately or found on the battlefield by infantrymen. This revolver was popular with law enforcement officers of the Old West. Reliability coupled with the short five inch barrel made this the choice for fast handling and accurate shooting. Originals were mostly custom orders of the longer 1851 Navy Model and are highly sought after by collectors for their historic value. This model features a 5"octagonal Old Silver barrel, Old Silver frame, brass guard, and walnut grip. It is available in .44 caliber, weighs 2.5 lbs. and is 11.5" in length.
