this 100 pack is great you can use 50 rounds for practice & save 50 rounds for just in case. super hollow point round for the money. besides it's kick over a .38 special it leaves a nice clean hole in a paper target. worked great in my S&W model 66 (K Frame). if you want try this for fun load your .357 with 5 .38 special rounds & 1 .357 mag. round and feel the surprise differents...

I read the previous review with interest. Although I am not all that experienced with magnum rounds, I found it to be quite comfortable in my Ruger GP-100 3" (Chrono'ed at 1400fps in the shorter barrel). Of course it was strong compared to a 38, but compared to a typical factory load in a 40 S&W Glock or other fiberglas semi-auto, it was much more controllable and comfortable. It actually more like a 45 ACP--more of a gentle push than a painful snap. I haven't fired this load in any of my K or L frames, but I'll give it a try in my 581. I won't even try it in a J frame, though. I value the nerves in my hand too much! Summary: I am an avid handloader, but I really like this round and keep my Rugers loaded with them. If I were looking for something for a lightweight 357/38+p J-frame or similar, I would probably stick with a hot 38+p from Double Tap or similar...

This is excellent ammunition. Burns reasonably clean and the muzzle flash is not too annoying (not worse than other Magnums and even smaller than many +P 38 specials!) . A full-power Magnum load that I would only recommend for everyday carry if shooter is well trained with their particular weapon. It gives a snappy, punishing recoil (pounding in the palm of your hand) even from an L-frame Smith, but it's really great for training because any error in working the trigger or holding the weapon will result in poor shot placement. I would imagine there would be serious muzzle flip as well in a small frame revolver. I shot 45 rounds of these at the range today as well as an equal number of 130gr FMJ 38 specials. LOL, because this one has nearly three times the energy of the 38 special, those weak loads feel like blanks in comparison! Again, this is a serious, clean, relatively cheap load I would recommend if you know how to handle Magnums...
