Electroless nickel plating covers all metal, including the inside of the barrel and receiver. The synthetic stock has generous checkering for positive control. Great gun! I wouldn't call the finish "Nickel", it is definetly silver. A nickel finish is nearly mirror like and smooth to the touch. The 870 M/M silver finish has a hard to describe dexture. Out of the box the action is a little stiff. The action gets smoother with use. The included shoulder strap is a nice touch. However, due to the placement so far near the end of the barrel very little if any pad is actually on your shoulder. Remington should include another magazine/barrel clamp so the swivel clamp can be slid down making the strap much more comfortable. Very accurate with a rifled slug... |

My first shotgun and I Love it. Can't wait to add on a Knoxx stock and a few other goodies.
I can't say Remington is better than Mossberg and I wouldn't. I can feel a difference when
I hold a 870 and play with the action, then pick up a 500 or 590 and play with it. In my opinion
Remingtons feel tighter, stronger, heavier, maybe even better built. Then again you get what you
pay for right? Nothing against Mossberg, who knows hopefully in the future I'll own one. For now
I have a Marine Magnum and wont trade it for anything... |
