My dad bought me this rifle for my 14th birthday. I shoot Remington core-lokt 150 gr very little recoil. The gun is very accurate I have a Leupold Rifleman 3-9x50mm scope I shot an 8 pointer at 350 yards and dropped it right in its tracks. The only problem I had with the gun is the bolt. (I did not keep the gun very clean) But if you keep it clean you shouldn't have any problems...

I bought mine about three years ago and it's a great performing gun. I have shot two deer at 100 yards and my oldest son just took his first deer with this gun at 80 yards in high winds. The gun is part of us now and we will always have those deer for stories. I agree that the 150gr is harsh on the shoulder. I still shoot it but im going to a lighter load. Great package for the price!!!!..

Excellent gun for the money. I've taken mine out several times already and it seems to shoot some tight groups. The Bushnell scope isn't half bad (considering it comes with the gun), and comes accompanied with in-use scope covers. The only disappointment I have is that the 150 gr. 270 cartridge has quite a bit of kick considering how small the caliber is. I thought maybe the gun itself had some issues, but after reading about recoil velocity on www.chuckhawks.com, I found out that the 270 Winchester caliber has as much recoil energy as a 308 Winchester. So, I switched to Remington's reduced recoil 113 gr. ammo and still managed to take deer down almost instantaneously, only with half the recoil. Overall, it's an excellent choice for beginners or for people who just don't believe a person should have to spend tons of money to get a decent hunting rifle...
