I recently got one of these in 7mm magnum. Out of the box, the only problem I noticed with the 770 is that the bolt seemed to stick most of the time. But with plenty of oil combined with opening and closing the action several times solved this problem. Occasionally, during the first few shots, the bolt would come out, but I haven\'t had too much of a problem after shooting it about 15 times. As for performance, the gun is dead accurate. it will require some sighting in as boresighting will only get the gun to hit the target. It\'s very fun to shoot, and I haven\'t had a single problem with jams or anything...

I bought this rifle as an early christmas present for me. Right out of the box rifle shot straight with a 4 inch drop at 50 yards. Couple of clicks on the scope and the rifle is dead on. Bolt works perfectly and does not hang up using magnums. Very little recoil compared to a 30-06. Nice rifle for the price...

Stay Away from the Remington Model 770!! I Purchased 3 of these for my sons last year, every one of them had the same problems, they don't load, the bolt flops all over, they are a mess.... anyway, all 3 were sent back to Remington, the found that all 3 had " unfinished barrels " and Remington replaced all 3 guns. We received the new guns 2 weeks ago and the brand new replacement guns have the exact same problems, Remington has all 3 of them right now, we are in the middle of deer hunting season right now, Remington wants to replace these 3 guns again, I told them NO - I don't want anything to do with these Remington Model 770's, They then offered me 3 new 700 SPS's and I refused explaining that I had no choice other than to go out and purchase 3 new guns for my sons, I bought 3 Tikka T3's and have not a single complaint with the Tikka T3's. I have heard from a couple of gunsmiths I know that tell me the Savage is a way better gun than the Remington Model 770, My wife has had her Tikka T3 for 3 years so that's why I bought 3 new ones for my sons...
