Testimonials from our Customers
Ruger American Pistol 8615, 45 ACP, 4.5 in, Black Synthetic Grip, Black Nitride Finish, 10 Rd
I wasn't using my Sig 1911 much so I sold it, but still wanted a .45 acp handgun. When this Ruger American came out, it did so with the usual industry hype. I found the price point appealing and also found it better looking than some plastic pistols, so I thought I'd take a chance on it knowing Ruger makes solid weapons. I wasn't too optimistic even when it arrived though it felt very nice in hand. One trip to the range changed everything for me however; not only did it feel good but it is a remarkably soft shooter, actually very pleasant. I didn't want to put to down (and didn't). Long story short, expensive gun not used for a relatively inexpensive gun that I can't stop shooting (until I ran out of ammo). We'll see how it holds up though, from what I've read, it's rated for +P extended use and purportedly would meet the new military standards. I'd surmise a lot of thought went into it during development so that an ordinary gun owner would embrace it so easily, like I have. I've owned too many handguns over the years not to have some perspective. I think Ruger has an exceptional product here (assuming the same Ruger high standards of mfg.) and if the general population of gun owners feels the way I do, it'll be a runaway success. - BZ

Ruger Single Six NR6 Revolver 0626, 22 LR / 22 WMR, 6 1/2 in, Rosewood Grip, Stainless Finish, 6 Rd, Adj Sights
Excellent sixgun. This 6 1/2" barrel is the perfect size for plinking or informal target shooting. I like the new laminated rosewood grips better than the old solid rosewood. The new grips are slimmer, brighter, and more durable. They also have a steel spacer between them for durability. I tested mine with CCI 40 grain Velocitors and it grouped 2 1/2" at 50 feet, two-hand hold. A better shot could have done better. I switched cylinders (this is a real gas to do, it's like having two guns) and tried the Winchester 40 grain Hollow Points. They shot about two inches below the 22 long rifle with the same-sized grouping. This is normal. Faster ammo will shoot to a lower point of aim. Build quality is first rate, wood to metal fit is perfect. Ruger still makes them with high quality. Great gun for plinking, hunting, or goofing off. I call it minute of beer can accuracy. Lots of fun. - JOE

Ruger Blackhawk KBN36 Revolver 0319, 357 Magnum, 6 1/2 in, Rosewood Grip, Satin Stainless Finish, 6 rd
Quite a revolver for sure. This gun as been in the Ruger lineup for many years (1953?). My new stainless-steel version with a 6 1/2" barrel is the most accurate revolver I own and I own many. I did the quick, poor-man's trigger job. You take the grips off, and slip one of the two springs of its spindle. It cuts the trigger pull in half and doesn't harm the gun at all. I've had Rugers in this condition for 15 years without ill effect. I did some test shooting with Blazer 158 grain brass ammo. This is 23 bucks a box ammo, certainly not expensive. I didn't even have to adjust the sight. Right from the get go, I was shooting in the black at 25 yards. Amazing accuracy and groups of three inches with a two hand hold. From a rest at 50 feet I shrunk the groups in half. I then tried 38 special wadcutters but the accuracy wasn't as good. I then tried low velocity 357 cowboy ammo and the accuracy was about the same as the blazer. I need to do further testing with 38 special, but it's not unusual for 357s to have less accuracy than pure 38 revolvers. Recoil is no problem with heavy loads. With the 38 wadcutters it's like a cap gun. There are no rough edges anywhere and the charge holes in the cylinder are chamfered, which Smith & Wesson charges extra for. The grips are no longer solid rosewood but are a beautiful rosewood laminate. They are brighter, more durable and add to the overall appearance. I STRONGLY suggest anyone who wants a great single action revolver to buy this gun. With full power 180 grain Buffalo Bore loads, it will even provide excellent protection from black bear. - JOE

Ruger SR9 Semi-Auto Pistol 3301, 9mm, 4.1 in, Synthetic Grip, Black/Stainless Steel Finish, 17 Rd, Adj Sights, Rail
I've had really good luck with this pistol, not that I ever heard that Ruger was bad. I've had it now for just over 2 years and it has been fantastic. Very slim and sleek for a full size double stack handgun. 17 + 1 capacity is great! Has a rubber reversable backing on the grip to make it a tad larger for those who prefer it, I like it with the slimmer grip myself. The gun shoots right where it's aimed for me and anyone else who I've let shoot it. One guy I let shoot it a bunch has bought his own. I think that for the price this is a real value, I feel it is just as good as the M&P line of pistols from S&W. No malfunctions with this gun with FMJ's or HP's, awesome gun. - DAVE

Ruger Super Blackhawk Single-Action Revolver 0811, 44 Remington Mag, 5.5 in, Rosewood Grip, Satin Stainless Finish, 6 Rd
Just aquired one of these Sweethearts on a Silver Trade.. Native born Montana Mountainman, hunted everything that swims, flys, hops. Owned all the \"good stuff\". This Ruger is a must have for the Serious among you. Mine is carried in a cross draw shoulder holster. It\'s weight and balance in the 5 1/2 inch barrel, fit me perfectly. I am 5\'9\" at 168 pounds. I even wear it Kayaking the Glades...Smaller rounds in .44 Special, make for mild recoil. Weapon came with a range of ammo up to .310 grain, manageable recoil, but I recommend \"Stickier Grips\" for heavier loads. - L. P.
