I own a Model 12FV in 22-250. I bought it at a local sporting good store and have owned it for a year. Let me just say that this is the most accurate rifle I have ever fired. That includes rifles that cost three timeas as much. Yes, I can pick apart the cost-cutting features like the stock, but if you want out of the box accuracy, my friends, look no further. I took this rifle to the range the day I bought it and comenced to "break" it in. I was shooting .5 MOA in my first 5 rounds at a 100 yards. I could not believe it. Mine is topped with a Nikon 6-18x40 Buckmaster glass with a Nikoplex reticle. I can save you all a bunch of change by telling you that Federal Premium 55 grain Sierra Gamekings are the pill of choice. Since I have bought this gun it has made kills on coyotes up to 400 yards with ease. I cant really say enough. Hogs...a 22-250 is not typically considered a hog gun, but when you can put a bullet behind the ear with pin-point accuracy what diffrence does it make? Believe it or not I have shot 1" groups with this gun at 325 yards. My wife as my witness! Just trust me on this. But, dont take my word for it, just google this gun and read the reviews. The stock does suck though. Injection molded and waaaaaay too thin at the forarm. You will want to replace that. Although, I have not done so. I adjusted the trigger all the way down and it has an absolutely lovely trigger pull. Very crisp.
A box of 55 grain Gamekings, a Harris bi-pod, good glass and nice day, and there is not a coyote alive that will survive if you are ANYWHERE 500 yards of them or even longer. The gun is heavy. Carring it around all day would not be fun. Can you tell I love my FV?
By the way, sitting in a box blind, my 10 year old daughter shot her first buck at 110 yards with it this last year using Remington 55 grain Coreloks!
