Pros: Accurate, 16rd mag, fits well in hands, plenty of accessories, easy to use, great trigger system, 3 back straps allow almost any sized hand to fit well, Left or Right handed shooter compatible. Cons: Sights aren\'t adjustable. This is by far the most fun pistol I have ever fired. All my friends who shot it want to purchase their own now. All the accessories that come with it are top notch and easy to use. Cleaning is a breeze and shooting it even easier. I would defiantly purchase a XD(M) again and recommend it to anyone who wants a reliable handgun...

first pistol i have ever bought, i must say that the simple ease of the firearm makes it worth purchasing. It\'s easy to load, easy to aim and incredibly smooth to fire. I was taken back be the lack of re-coil, and with-in no time i was all over the bullseye. So i owe springfield a thank you, for making such a perfect gun at such an affordable price...

I\'m a 100% Disabled VET and after 15.5 years in the US Army I know a little about guns. And I know if I need to shot my XD\'s or my New XDM they will shoot. After about 7000 to 9000 rounds with my Springfield XD and XDM\'s I know if I need it they WILL WORK!!! I love the feel of the new XDM 40 S&W. I have about 3000 rounds out of it and it works great every time. If you need a gun, you need to look at the Springfield line you will find the one for you and it will work when you need it. I live about 6 miles from Detroit MI and with 30% of good people of MI out of work, well you get it. Go to the range with someone you know that has a XD or XDM and ask them if you can shot it and you will know what I do, they work or rent one at the range, you will see. good luck and stay safe! Soldier!!!..

I bought the XD-45 Tactical when they first came out and I still LOVE that gun. I was looking for a nice .40 S&W and this beautiful weapon came on the market. I\'ve shot thousands of rounds out of the 45 with ZERO misfires and/or jams. I\'ve put a little over 2,200 rounds out of my new XD(M)40 and as predicted, NO issues. Nothing but perfectly placed shots. Bar none, the best all purpose hand guns on the planet. When you pull the trigger of a gun, and NEED for it to fire and fire true, you can\'t go with any other.....

I've put about 3000 rounds through mine since my purchase back in early August with only 3 slide lock issues due to some poor quality ammunition. I shoot about 50-100 rounds per week at my local range with solid shot placement. The three grip sizes are a bonus as I happen to use the largest grip, though friends of mine fire it more comfortably with the smaller grip. Changing the grip backstrap is as simple as ten seconds with a hammer and punch. I understand that the new 9mm XDm just hit the streets. I get chided constantly by the "9 is fine crowd" for not waiting to get the XDm 9 because you know... 9 is so awesome, and the ammo is so unbelievably cheap. Well, here's the deal. I grew up on black powder so I am not afraid of a bigger bullet. Had the XDm come in a .45 ACP I probably would have bought it. That said, I really like .40 and I don't get the whole snide "short and wimpy" remarks from the "9 is finers". Mostly that all boils down to ammunition selection anyhow. 9 fans are generally shooting hotter loads to get the "big bullet' effect out of their 9. I chose the XDm over a .357sig or a 9 because of the wider range of ammo available and larger grain of bullet. For me though, the other real kicker and the "reason" you want the .40 instead of the XDM 9 is Swapability. You can get as .357 sig aftermarket barrel and use your .40 mags to shoot .357sig. You can get a 9mm aftermarket barrel for around 130 bucks and I believe you can use the 19 rd 9mm mags. (Haven't tried it yet but maybe someone else in the know has the answer.) Point is you can swap down or laterally from the .40 xdm but you can't swap up to .40 from the 9. For an additional 230 bucks you end up with 3 guns worth of gun. Nothing wrong with that! Likewise the case it comes in is bar none the finest gun case you'll ever get. Solid, durable, 2 mags, mag loader, paddle holster (definitely not a conceal holster) and double mag holder (with a cant so you cant use it in matches oh well....) good for range use at least. As others have said its a snap to clean and after 3000 or so rounds shows almost no wear...

I have had the Springfield XDM .40 for 5 months now. I have shot over 500 rounds with 0 problems. I love the way it feels compared to the Glock 23. The felt recoil is significantly less when compared to my friends S&W 9mm, which makes it very easy to stay on target. I am considering purchasing a second one. This is absolutely a lot of gun for the money. You also get a lot of gear in the case it comes in. Super Accurate. Super easy to clean. Super Value. Super firearm...
