Recently bought a Stoeger Cougar .40 Cal. from a local gun store. I like the size and it's easy to take down, but it's not as accurate as my other handguns. I'm shooting 10" groups at 45-50' from a rest. I KNOW I can shoot better than that, and I think the gun is more accurate than that. For now I plan to put some more rounds through it, in case it needs breaking-in. Also I'll try some different ammo.....maybe it'll find something it likes. Anybody else had trouble with accuracy with the Stoegers?..

Last year I purchased a S&W Sigma .40, WHAT A MISTAKE, gritty trigger, nearly 12 pounds. Sent to S&W and they serviced trigger, still over 8 pounds, but not as "gritty". I picked up a Stoeger 8000 today and put a hundred rounds through it this afternoon, WOW, nearly as heavy DA trigger as the Smith, but way smother and the Single action has quit a bit of take up, but is crisp and clean as the old Colt 1911's I shot in the military. I could not believe the tight groups this old man of 60 shot, with a short barreled pistol, better than I can remember shooting with the Beretta FS 9mm. The recoil with the .40 feels like a 9mm, cycles fast and easy to keep on target. This will be my new primary carry weapon for sure!!! I almost bought another S&W .40 model 410, but I think I found my new best friend with the Stoeger. What a breeze to disassemble to clean and medal guide rod, rather than the plastic one on the Smith. Don't hesitate, the first 100 rounds today and not a single hiccup!!!..

Buy this gun. It is an overlooked diamond and do not be fooled by the Stoeger name. It is a Beretta pistol with a Steoger emblem. I have the .40 it is a great, high quality gun. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! This is a good price. The original Beretta cougar was $700.00. Now you get the same gun for half the price. Research it and BUY IT!..

GREAT GUN!!! My first .40 and it is VERY VERY accurate. I was very surprised how good a gun it really is. But like the Advertisement says, it is basically a Beratta with the Stoeger name on it. I would highly recommend this gun to everyone!!!..
