I purchased A T/C Triumph, black composite stock and Weather guard barrel, in Dec. of 2008. Put on a Nikon Omega BDC scope. Cleaned it to remove the barrel protection found in new rifles. Much to my surprise, there was none, which made me wonder. Took it to the range, loaded it and fired. The rifle would not break open after the first shot! After inspecting the rifle and seeing nothing wrong, I thought the only thing that changed is it had been fired and the pressure must have pushed the primer back. I cocked the hammer again and pulled the trigger thinking the firing pin would push the primer forward. It worked, the rifle broke open just as it should. Every time it was fired, there after, I would have to go through the same routine. Doing this caused the primer to be seated hard so it was difficult to remove from the breech plug. I quickly learned to keep my thumb on the hammer, pull the trigger, and ease the firing pin against the primer. This made for much easier removal of the primer. Obviously this was a defective gun. The firing pin goes through a disc which is recessed about .038 from the surface that the breech plug closes against. It should be flush with that surface not recessed! I verified this by looking at other T/C Triumphs at an outdoor store. After a shot, the primer edge catches on the lip that is created by the disc being recessed preventing the barrel to break open. This is the first and only defective gun I have owned or for that matter had ever seen! (I have a gun safe full including a few competition grade shotguns and rifles) After checking with an outdoor store and two gun smiths, I learned only the T/C factory repairs their firearms. I emailed T/C three times explaining the problem and the cause. No response! I called the factory at least once a day and usually twice a day for over two weeks, got nothing but a recording requesting I leave my telephone number so their customer service can call me back. That never happened either. Finally one day I was surprised when someone actually answered the phone. After explaining the problem and my frustration, she told me they were just swamped! Doesnt speak well for T/C does it? They have had my Triumph for weeks along with a detailed letter and photo showing the problem. All I have is a post card acknowledging receipt of my rifle. After talking to the customer service rep., I am wondering if they are going to stay in business. How did it shoot? Not as good as stated in most of these other reviews. Two inch groups at 100yds using 100grs. of 777 & T/C 250gr. sabots. Not real bad but then it is not a shooter either. To be fair the day I sighted it in and then shot groups was cold and very windy, so it may not have been a fair trial. I purchase a Triumph because of T/Cs reputation and the beautifully simple design. Would I buy again? After going through all of this, would you?..
