TRIJICON INC Trijicon ACOG/Green Donut Illuminate Reticle/223 Ballistic Reticle /Matte Finish The ACOGs are internally adjustable, compact telescopic sights with tritium illuminated reticle patterns for use in low light or at night. Bindon Aiming Concept (BAC) models feature bright daytime reticles using fiber optics which collect ambient light. The ACOG combines traditional, precise distance marksmanship with close in aiming speed. Although the ACOG has many features which are very advantageous for military use, they were developed by Trijicon without government funding. Designed for use with the M16 family, every feature of its mechanical and optical design was chosen for a single purpose: to provide increased hit potential in all lighting conditions -- without failure prone batteries. The green donut of death, in the 3.5 acog model, is the best all purpose optic Trijicon makes (just my opinion). Excellent FOV and forgiving eye relief. Heavier than the compacts, but no heavier than a 1-4x variable optic. Get the Larue Tactical, LT-100, quick release mount and thank me later. For a 25-300 meter fighting carbine, it can't be beat. If you want something with more precision, go with the chevron or crosshairs.
I can't believe how fast and easy it is to pick up the green donut at close distances, shooting both eyes open. My eye picks up the green much better than the red or amber. The green doesn't wash out against any background and is still bright in low light. Make sure you go to a retailer and look at the different models, reticles and tritium colors. Everyone has different personal preferences. Make sure you are getting what you want, before ordering on line.
Able's was great to work with. Very courteous and professional staff. I called ahead to make sure they had the optic in stock, before ordering. Be wary of online retailers. Some will advertise as having the optic in stock, bill your credit card, then tell you it's on backorder. Botach!!!! Do your homework, take your time and get what you really want. With Trijicon pricing, you can't afford to make any mistakes!.. |
