I have a mossburg 500 pump shotgun with a smooth bore. I use these brenneke slugs for deer hunting. I have my gun & scope sited in with these shells. I can keep a 3in pattern at 100yrs using a smooth bore barrel. I have such success that I an not thinking of getting a slug barrel for my gun. I have tested other slugs and never have had this great success. I only use the Brenneke 3in slugs. Best performance at fair price for what you get...

This is for the reviewer who fired these slugs from an H&R singleshot. I fired these slugs from the same firearm and had the same results as you. Then I loosened the screw located on the forend and the problem was corrected. If that screw is tightened all the way, it puts too much tension on the barrel causing the slugs to impact low(every brand of slugs impacted between 6\"-8\" low, not just Brennekes) . If you release that tension, the point of impact rises. I had this same problem with my Rossi singleshots in 20 and 12 gauge as well. Now point of aim and point of impact are the same with all my singleshots(give or take an inch). The Brenneke 20 gauge slugs are excellent. Groups are tight and penetration is superior to most other brands. If you hunt with a smooth bore in 20 gauge, there is no better choice...

These slugs pack the kick and power. But when I shoot them out of my H+R single shot smoothbore they stay in line with the bullseye but have a eight inch drop at 20 yards? Other guns may shoot these well but mine has to much drop at just 20 yards...

to answer the question about the discrepancy between slug speed and energy: they are both CORRECT. The energy specified refers to kinetoc energy which is determined by multiplying the value of the mass times the square of the velocity divided by 2 (MV^2)/2. The mass of 1 onz slug is 1/(16x32.2). The rest is arithmentic...

These, by far, are the best 20 gauge slugs I've ever used. I've tried several different brands and the Brenneke slugs shoot true and pack a nice punch with the 1 oz slug. With these you don't need a 12 gauge to bring down your deer, the 20 gauge works just fine...

I am a new customer and before I place an order for this product there seems to be a discrepancy. the box I am holding in my hand states the velocity ft./sec. is 1476 and the Energy ft./lbs. is 2120 . Who's information is corect ? Please e-mail me . Thanks..
