I had one of these this is a great rifle to hunt with I have drop deer where they stand at 300 feet sitting in a 15 foot stand it's light weight and accurate I'm getting me the same rifle can't go wrong with this Savage hmr 17mm rifle. -
You can't go wrong with this rifle or Able ammo. They didn't have the gun in stock but it only took 2 days to get it in, great customer service. The rifle itself is a nice color with a heavy barrel on it. I've shot around 100 rounds through mine so far with no failure to feeds. The bolt is very smooth after you work it in a bit. Make sure you buy a couple more 5 round mags so you don't have to keep reloading it. This rifle also shoots very well. I was shooting baby peaches about the size of a golf ball easily at 70 yards. Once you start shooting this thing you won't want to shoot anything else. I would highly recommend it to anyone. - GARRETT
Thank you for your outstanding service! I tried out my new Browning T-Bolt 17HMR this morning. It was calm/clear and 45degrees. After initial sight in with Leupold VX-1 4-12X,I was able to shoot 5-shot groups of less than 1 moa with Hornady 17gr. V-max. I also shot pieces of clay pigeons out to 200 yards with said load and also Winchester 17 vmax and CCI 17HP loads. I am very pleased with the function of the rifle:accuracy, trigger pull and magazine function/feeding. - JIM
As an avid shooter in my late 60\'s, I have owned this gun for a little over a year & target/plink often at my lease. Have probably shot 600 - 700 rds. using 7 different brands of ammo in 17 gr. Two were Hollow Points. The gun is very accurate & impressive, the trigger (set light) is very smooth. The barrel (while warm) shows no real heat problem after running 5 quick shots thru it. I have never had a problem with it. I come from a lot of experience shooting & hand loading 22-250\'s. To me this is just a smaller version and is an excellent shooter in the 100 to 150 yd. range. For a decent shooter, Coyotes will not be a problem. I outfitted it with a Weaver 3X10 Grand Slam. This gun/scope combo is light & easy to carry afield. For around $600. & the cheaper cost of .17 ammo you will have a lot of shooting fun. As to the brand of ammo that shoots best for me...it\'s the Hornady .17 gr. V-MAX.
