I found the Uberti 1866 Yellowboy Sporting to be a surprisingly well-finished and attractive reproduction of a classic Winchester lever-gun. In fact, while shopping for a cowboy-style lever-action, I found at my local gun shop a brand new, limited edition, engraved Winchester (still in the box) that looked positively cheap by comparison. The icing on the cake is that the Uberti is also amazingly accurate for an "antique". The action feels as smooth as any new brand-name lever rifle I tried and operates with a satisfying mechanical sound. Not only is it a pleasure to look at, it is also a pleasure to cycle the action and shoot. And. in .38 special, it is relatively inexpensive to shoot. Highly recommended for "casual" target shooting or Cowboy Action Shooting. - M. S.
