I've owned this rifle for almost 2 years now, and it hasn't missed a beat on the range or in the field. For some reason a lot of people think you need a $1000+ rifle to shoot tight groups (or for some to even hit a barn), the truth is, if you are a trained shooter this rifle will perform almost any task you need. For a little over $350 the Model 770 is a great packaged rifle in any caliber you choose. The only thing to be careful with is the action. The bolt needs to be well maintained to stay consistent, but with proper cleaning and lubrication it is solid. I took my buddy to the range not long ago to teach him how to shoot, since he had never even held a rifle before. After 4 shots of learning the basics, his 5th shot was dead on at 100 yards. A complete novice shot a 4 round 2" group at 100 yards, after sighting in with 5 shots. That's consistent accuracy! I myself am a trained expert marksman, and with the 3-9 x 40 Bushnell scope that it comes with, can shoot 1.5" groups at 300 yards. So if you can't shoot a deer at 75-100 yards with this rifle, then maybe you should stick to watching other people hunt on TV. Or go spend $2000 on a rifle that's going to do the exact same thing but atleast you can look pretty when you miss the deer of a lifetime. "Don't blame poor performance on your equipment, you're the one controlling it."..

I paid $350 for this gun and it is the best out of the box combo gun I have ever used. The scope is great out to 200 yrds. If you want a cheap and reliable gun this is the one for you. The only slight down fall is the action is a little sloppy but is bearable...
