I'm a 64 yr old Vet who has shot guns all my life...I picked up this pistol at a local gun show...I know it doesn't look quite as smart as the SD or M&P Series of pistols, but looks can be deceiving as to performance. I have read numerous reviews about how horrendous the trigger is on this model. Yes, the trigger is longer and not as smooth as the more expensive models, but for CCW, I personally do not want a short, light pull...There are plenty of fixes on YouTube that make the trigger more tolerable or SW will do it for you if one requires it...Under rapid fire, I don't notice the trigger at all, and the gun is deadly accurate at point of aim to 20 yards and eats Hornady 165 grain Critical Defense loads flawlessly. I know this gun was one of SW answers to the Glock 23...Yes, its a bit heavier since the Mags are metal versus plastic in the Glock. But for all useful purposes in my opinion, this pistol can hold its own at a much cheaper price. I carry this piece everywhere in a Cross Breed holster and you don't notice the weight at all...Makes for a great concealed carry combo. I recommend both the pistol and the holster!..

I LOVE IT, IT\'S THE OTHER WOMAN. I love the little, not much, stronger trigger pull as I move mine around alot and this helps prevent accidents. It\'s accurate, well desined for me, and quick into action. I\'ll keep this one around for awile. So everyone knows, I tote a .40 S&W, smith and wesson sigma. I found \"MY\" perfect gun. I was turned on to it from a local dealers employe. THANKS CHRIS!!!!..

I have had this gun for about 4 month`s now, and I have shot around 1000 round`s through it. I can honestly say that I have not had 1 jam, or mis-fire with this gun. I changed my sites to Trijicon Tritium. There was nothing wrong with the original sites, I just wanted to add alittle something more to it. The gun shoot`s straight as a arrow, and I would trust this gun in ANY situation. I also like the fact there is a rail to mount a flashlight, and like what I added was a laser site. The only down side to adding a laser site is finding a holster to fit, but that`s a very small problem. It is very simple to take the gun apart for cleaning. S&W has a lifetime warranty also, and alot of other gun maker`s do not offer such a good warranty. If something is wrong with your gun all you do is drop it in a box, and return it to S&W and they will fix it no question`s asked, and get it back to you ASAP. Man I love American made item`s! So to sum up whatever your reason`s for owning this gun you can be worry free of this weapon not firing when you truely need it to. It`s like anything in this world, If you take care of your weapon then your weapon will take care of you. Buy it you wont regret it ( I hope) Be safe, have fun, and for christ sake keep your finger off the trigger!..

I purchased this weapon as an early Christmas gift to me. I have always been an S&W person. It was purchased for home protection to begin with. But after going to the range and putting 500 rounds through it, the 40 is my ccw and we go just about everywhere. The pull on the trigger was slightly more than I wanted at first. As far as staking my life on the gun, I do every day at work. For those that have it and don\'t like it, just practice with it and get used to it. I put 165 GRS bullets through it at the range and anytime else 180GRS 40SW through it. No delay firing or jams either. Happy shooting everyone..

Trigger pull is excessively long. I had to pull almost to trigger guard before firing. After about 15 rds firing became unpredictable (i.e. sometimes wouldn't fire, other times would fire after holding trigger completely back. S7W replaced trigger mechanism at no charge. I haven't fired since repair, but, after initial experience, I wouldn't trust this weapon in a life or death situation. For an inexpensive, reliable self-defense weapon, I'd recommend Hi-point-not very pretty, but accurate and reliable...
