HORNADY MFG CO Superformance SST 270 Winchester, SST, 140 GR, 3090 fps, 20 Rd/bx Superformance ammunition is 100 to 200 fps faster than any conventional ammunition on the market today, and achieves this performance in every gun, without increases in felt recoil, muzzle blast, temperature sensitivity, fouling or loss of accuracy. Superformance is a cutting edge technological advancement in ammunition design that transcends convention and achieves the highest performance of any ammunition on the market today. Superformance uses ultra progressive propellants that take your favorite SST or GMX bullets to levels of performance that are simply unattainable with conventional propellants. In order to get more velocity in the past shooters have used a brute force approach with large charge weights of a slow burning powder in a larger cartridge case. Ultimately this leads to more recoil and muzzle blast. The Superformance solution is an elegant approach that utilizes specialized powders at normal charge weights, that impart all usable energy to the bullet reducing the rocket nozzle effect at the muzzle while still increasing velocity! Before trying this round. I used ONLY Hornady stock #8556 140 gr BTSP interlock light magnum rounds in my Winchester Model 70 270 cal. Since they no longer make stock #8556, I thought I would give these a try. The other rounds were incredibly accurate, and had a very easy to handle recoil. After switching to this round I am actually holding the same unbelievable accuracy, and No real noticable difference in recoil. Seemingly a real smooth switch. However, the bullet itself is better. I noticed the knock down power is better and it doesn\'t break apart when impacting bone. To sum it up, it looks to me as a \"sportsman\", that they took the light magnum load and added a better bullet.
In my opinion it is better, but does it justify the price? I believe it does. I want an accurate round that packs a punch for just about any game and gives me a quick clean kill. It does it all, super accurate, hard hitting, and does not erode the accuracy of my rifle. I have switched for good, Hopefully they keep making it!.. |
