Some of the best handguns are Bersa !!!
And the price is right !!!
I liked my 380 so much I bought the same Thunder model in a 22lr.
Easy to clean, and reliable.
Got the Bersa wood grips and they give the grip a fuller handle.
Perfect in my hand.
The warranty is lifetime on most of the pistol.
Bersa, you can't go wrong !!!!.. |

I have had my Bersa for about a year now and I have very mixed emotions about it. It took a lot of rounds to break in but once it did, it is very reliable. I shot a hundred rounds of PMC FMJ through it last week without a single jam. I used this gun for my CHL test. It is very accurate and quite fun to shoot. But with all the competition out there now I am afraid the design is too dated. It is simply to heavy to be that small and too small to be that heavy. Except for a longer grip, there really is no reason to carry it rather than a Ruger LCP that weighs almost 1/3 as much and costs about the same. The market is full of compact 9mm\'s and even 40S&W\'s that are about this size and many weigh less. If you don\'t mind the size and weight you can carry 9 mm from Kimber, Kahr, Ruger, Taurus etc with a lot more punch. I don\'t have a problem with 380 ACP but I can get it in a much smaller package. It\'s not a bad gun for the price and has that \"James Bond\" feel, but I don\'t think I would make the same purchase again... |

Bought the Bersa Thunder .380 duo-tone in March of 2009, and have had it for about a year and a half as my primary defense weapon. Finish was quite nice when I purchased it but after several months of light holster use it began to wear very rapidly. All slide edges are now silver and the rest of the finish that remains is not particularly attractive anymore. Magazine quality is good, and the magazine release works reliably every time. Safety de-cocker works well, though I would never carry with a round chambered and the safety engaged due to its stiffness. It would be too slow to draw and attempt to flip off the safety reliably in a defensive scenario, so I would recommend carrying with a round unchambered. If you are comfortable using double-action as your "safety" with a round chambered and hammer down, you could go that route as well (IE, like double-action revolver) but I wouldn't recommend it because of the light-ish double action pull. Double action is also quite smooth and even throughout, though for some reason feels sort of flimsy and fragile. Single action pull has a clean and easy break, though has more take-up than I prefer. Accuracy is fair to good. In my experience this weapon has choked on every conceivable ammunition except Remington FMJ and JHP. Due to constant failures with various respected brands of ammunition of many types, I have far less confidence in this weapon for front-line self-defense, though I must admit with Remington ammunition it runs like a clock. I do not like the magazine disconnect safety, but that is personal taste. My rear sights at one point managed to fall off the weapon due to the cheap windage-adjustment design (there is a screw and a spring set to keep the rear white-dot sights in. if you push in the right direction hard enough, the sights will simply fall out). Takedown is a snap, cleaning is incredibly easy, and reassembly is no-sweat. For the price it is quite a decent purchase even in spite of its short-comings, though still cannot stand up to the reliability and quality of a more expensive American-made firearm... |
