Just aquired one of these Sweethearts on a Silver Trade.. Native born Montana Mountainman, hunted everything that swims, flys, hops. Owned all the \"good stuff\". This Ruger is a must have for the Serious among you. Mine is carried in a cross draw shoulder holster. It\'s weight and balance in the 5 1/2 inch barrel, fit me perfectly. I am 5\'9\" at 168 pounds. I even wear it Kayaking the Glades...Smaller rounds in .44 Special, make for mild recoil. Weapon came with a range of ammo up to .310 grain, manageable recoil, but I recommend \"Stickier Grips\" for heavier loads... |

A great addition to a hunting arsenal. Fun to shoot. Just sight in and your ready. For me, very accurate to 30+ yards with 3 1/2in. groups, off the bench with the open sites. Not your run of the mill .44 mag. The 5.5in brl. length and gun weight seems to be a good balance. Not so much of an uncontrollable recoil with Hornady 180s & 200s. With Winchester 180gr, Silver tips .44spl., recoil was like shooting a .22cal. pistol. I also preferred the fluted cylinder to the no fluted on the SBHs... |

I bought this gun for a hunting companion for my Marlin 336 and/or Ruger M77 Mark II .270W. First shots with this gun was with some .44Spl. Recoil was about like a .22LR. With quality manufactured 240gr. magnum loads, the recoil was well manageable due to the balance and weight of the gun. Definitely will be purchasing some different grips just as some of the internet reviewers suggested because of the shooting hand middle finger getting hit by the round trigger guard. But, that was after shooting the gun the first time and over 70 rounds with the mag loads. Overall the gun looks, shoots and performs very well. I'm very pleased with the price and quality of the gun and can't wait to get that first deer or hog with it... |
