I was looking for a custom-quality, attractively finished .45 with extended mag well and adjustable sights for target practice. After a lot of research, I ended up with the Super Match II. First trip to the range, I fired three rounds of standard Winchester FMJ ball free hand at a standard sniper target (1.25" center) at my normal shooting distance of 25 yards. Two rounds were cleanly in the center, one broke the edge. Since then have put several hundred rounds through the pistol without a single problem and have never touched the sights. My only negative comments: 1) contrary to common industry practice the pistol ships with only one mag, not two and I had to order another, along with a 3-pack of base pads from Kimber. 2) the almost "indestructible" KimPro finish chipped (literally) off the slide at the slide assembly notch the first time I reassembled the pistol after cleaning and the finish is showing signs of wear on the front left edge of the slide, even though I don't holster the pistol and have handled it very carefully. I am will pleased with the performance of the pistol, but I see a slide refinish in my future... |
