My FFL thought the price was a little high, but each gun he showed me was either nickle plated or regular hammer. I chose this gun to be the first in my new collection because it was exactly what I wanted and able has plenty to choose from. The fit, finish, hammer, trigger pull is exactly as I hoped for. I love how the checkered grip hangs onto my grip. It took a bit for the gun to arrive, but I knew that it had to come from the manufacturer. A purist might poo poo the stainless, but I've owned the first and second gen colts and saw how the bluing wore. What good is a gun that I can't play with? A scratch in stainless can be polished off, and a stainless Uberti will hold it's value as long as you don't use it to drive nails.
Did I mention how the gun shoots? That's right I don't need to because it's a well made single action with a great trigger!
If you are thinking about buying a single action then think investment and don't "settle," get what you want! I did a lot of searching and Able Ammo was the only online store that offered this particular gun. This El Patron Competition in stainless should be priced in the sun one thousand dollar range because of the action, hammer... Yeah I've already mentioned that.
Anyway the price can't be beat and neither can the gun! - LARRY
I bought this gun some time ago and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. The weight of the gun and the length of the barrel all but eliminate recoil. Pulling the hammer and rotating the cylinder can be slowed down if too much powder and grit accumulate during shooting; this is where proper maintenance comes into play. Keep it oiled properly and you should have no problem. - S. R.
Out of the box perfect selection for Cowboy Action Shooting. Single handed drawing, cocking, and reholstering are a snap with this design and the looks are right out of the period pages of the "Cowboy" look and feel. Hand filling grip is quick to bring up to target with its easy handling 5 1/2" barrel length and shoots to point of aim at the distances incountered in Cowboy Action Shooting. Smooth steady trigger pull with slight amount of creep. All in all a very hansome and dependable firearm for the sport of Cowboy Action Shooting and a worthy sidearm in the field at a very reasonable price. - K. W.
Man, I love this pistol. I thought it would knock me on my butt. But even with a 4 5/8\" barrel length, it is a great shooti\' iron. I like the 45 long Colt cartridge and will add a carbine action rifle to go with this pistol. Sort of expensive just to plink around the range, but fun none the same. Highly recommended firearm. - R.
